Another summer has almost ended. With school starting up again the lazy summer days come to a close, for the most part. Let's still have some fun in the sun while we can. With day trips and service opportunities in the near future we have some good stuff coming our way.
Monday Meeting
August day outing plan and prep
8-15, Good Templar Park (Park side), 7p
The plan for this weeks meeting is to plan for next weekends day outing. A canoe trip up and down the fox river. As of now we only have 2 scouts signed up for it. We need a few more people to sign up. Please go to the website and let us know if you can come.
On that same note please go to the website and sign up for Race into Scouting. This is a good chance to meet and help out cub scout groups in our area. It is also a great chance to get your name out to the packs. Having packs know you by name is always a cool thing.
Conklin tree farm update.
It is with sadness that I have to report our wreath supplier for the past 16 + seasons Conklin tree farms has retired from the business and will no longer be our wreath supplier. We were notified earlier this week by Mrs.Conklin We have a few leads on who we will be going with for the 2022 season. We are still looking but should be ready to go by the end of September. Trying to find the same quality and sizes that we have been given these past years is the primary goal. If you would like to make a suggestion please send us a note so we can look into it.
Troop Fundraising Opportunity
Here we go again! This late summer begins our next round of fundraisers. We have 3 chances for you to make yourself and the troop some money. Firstly is our Popcorn fundraiser, Secondly is our Wreath fundraiser and last but not least we are bringing back our Jerky fundraiser. This Monday we will be doing a soft launch of all three.
Cyber-Chip
Everyone needs this!!!!
In order for the scouts to be able to use their phones or tech on meetings or outings they need to have this certification. The class material can be found at
Because the school year would have just started and we would have just come off of summer camp we will be taking a relaxing trip up-and-down the Fox River. We have a few canoes we can use for a trip up to Elgin, down to Batavia and back with a few stops along the way. We will be working on some swimming and boating exercises, safety afloat exercises and even the canoeing merit badge if anyone is interested.

Scarecrow Fest
Oct 7th - 9th
This award-winning event features many unique handcrafted scarecrows on display throughout downtown St. Charles. Scarecrow Festival visitors can vote in the Scarecrow contest to help decide the winners in four categories: mechanical/mega, clubs, non-profits and schools, individuals and business. This event also features a family zone in Lincoln Park with live entertainment, a photo op area, scarecrow in a box, and Autumn on the Fox Arts and Crafts Show at Pottawatomie Park. Details at www.scarecrowfest.com. Stroll along downtown to admire the scarecrows and visit the businesses, which will offer deals, specials, and events.
If you have a family member, a friend, an acquaintance, a Cub Scout crossover or someone transferring from another troop please let us know. We all know that the only way for the troop to survive is for more people to join over the long run. If you know of anyone that could potentially be interested in joining, please have them come to a meeting, outing, camp-out or just for a visit.
