S.M.S for 3-26-23

Posted by swolfgram on Mar 26 2023 - 10:45pm
Good evening everyone
In tonight's issue we have a few updates and reminders.

Spring break no meeting
Spring break no meeting

Spring fundraisers
Mulch (update)
Patrick at Midwest compost said that they would be happy to do another fundraiser with us this Spring. They have set up a portal for us on their website. All we would have to do is log on and do a little paperwork rather than going through any middlemen from the company. Just like last time you (the scout) just fill out the form, submit it and 48 hours later the client should have their product.  We will have updated pricing and time lines by the time we get back from spring break.

Pancake breakfast with the Legion (update)
The breakfast will be moved to the 22nd of April.  This gives some more time to put the breakfast together and sell tickets.

Memorial Day breakfast
The Legion also wanted to do a fundraiser for the Memorial day pancake breakfast. The way they are setting this one up would be any group that helped with the breakfast would get a cut of the total ticket sales. %20 of the profit will go to the legion and their scholarship fund.  The rest will be split among any of the organizations helping out at the  breakfast.  Because we usually help out at the Memorial Day breakfast this one in particular is a no brainer. Next week we should have a bit more information.

No Troop Meeting

Spring break week

S.M.S for 3-19-23

Posted by swolfgram on Mar 19 2023 - 8:58pm
Good evening everyone

In tonight's letter there is a boatload to go over and a lot of updates for everyone.   This one is a long one so let's get going

Troop One and troop 10 teaming up this season (update)
I received word from the leadership of troop 10 as to when they would be visiting us.  Monday April 10th is slated for our meeting with them.  They wanted to come to the vets dinner with us and hang around for the meeting afterwards.

Spring fundraisers
Mulch
Patrick at Midwest compost said that they would be happy to do another fundraiser with us this Spring. They want to set up a dealer portal for us on their website. All we would have to do is log on and do a little paperwork rather than going through any middlemen from the company.  This would still allow us to maintain the quick turnaround and profitability margin. I'm getting  Information and should have more news hopefully sometime this coming week.

Pancake breakfast with the Legion.
Jeff from the Legion asked if we would want to do a pancake breakfast on behalf of the Legion to help raise some money for the troop. We would hold the breakfast over at the veteran center and do the fundraiser in the name of the American Legion. The American Legion would technically be the ones making any money off of this event. They would then take any of the profits and donate them back to us. This would be a way to avoid the council middle man and allow us to do multiple events for the spring.

They wanted to make sure it wasn't too far into May but far enough away that we can get the word out. A lot of the supplies would be donated but we still would need to get drinks and a few other things. I believe Jeff has the idea to do it on the 15th of April. We can push that back a little if needed.  I already have a few ideas for flyers and pricing.   At the bottom I attached a flyer from another troop that just recently did a breakfast. It gives a good feel for pricing.

Next month we should have a bit more information.

S.M.S for 3-12-23

Posted by swolfgram on Mar 12 2023 - 9:22pm
Good evening everyone

Who is the wise guy that ordered the snow?  Come on now who did it?

Troop One and troop 10 teaming up this season
Last Wednesday Mr.Browne and Mr. Wolfgram had a meeting with three of the leaders from troop 10.  They discussed joining together on some of their meetings and outings for the spring and summer.  The end goal may be for troop 10 to merge with troop one and pull our resources together for the fall season.  Most of this is still up in the air as of now.  The idea does have a lot of promise.  Sometime in April we hope to be holding a few joint meetings or outings to see how things pan out

Good evening everyone

Thank you to everyone that came up to the cabin this year.  Even with the bizarre weather reports we were getting we found an opening and made it a good weekend.  A little snow never hurt anyone and thankfully the amount predicted for us never materialized.  We have always been able to have a good time while we are there and this past weekend was no exception.

Baker Church
The next committee meeting will be at Baker Church immediately following the p.l.c.  If you are a Committee member or are a parent interested in troop business please attend. We are searching for new  members that can help staff a few areas of need for the troop.  The four areas that we are looking to staff are Fundraising, Activities, Service and Recruitment.  All four areas are vital to the troop.  Meetings of these four departments need not always meet on a Monday night and can bounce ideas via mail or phone.
