Monday, May 27 - Pass it On! The Memorial Day Veteran's Pancake Breakfast is ON!!
Since Memorial Day weekend in St. Charles is our most revered annual event, the pancake breakfast has been a highlight. With Bethlehem Church (our usual venue) under construction, we thought we'd have to cancel this year, but we learned that we may use the kitchen in Wylie Hall (lower level) at Baker United Methodist Church instead.
We need a few heroes to help pull this off as Troop 1 is traditionally the troop that coordinates with the sole purpose of celebrating Memorial Day in our community while honoring area veterans. It's that important & we need your help.
It is a well attended gathering of about 150 veterans, area scout troops, & families. The breakfast is held after the cemetery ceremonies and before the parade. Set-up to clean-up runs from about 6:30-9:30am... (we will all pitch in to help).
We need specific people to:
1) Purchase pancakes, sausage, butter pats & syrup at Gordon Foodservice (Aurora or Schaumburg) and be able to store it until Monday morning when you bring it to the church...
This weekend after many years of trying to coordinate it, Troop One is finally able to get the trailer wrapped and ready to go.
The trailer wrap is effectively a gigantic sticker that is attached to the trailer giving it more character than it has ever seen.
During the event we will also be working on the Entrepreneurship Merit Badge. If you have already started on this badge or have never started on it, you can get major portions of the badge completed within the day.
We wanted to update everyone as to this weekend's plans. At last night's meeting the boys decided to alter this month's outing. Because there's no snow, a ski trip at this time would not be practical. The boys voted last night to convert the camp-out into a day trip to the Museum of Science and Industry. We have already altered the listing on the website to account for this change.
We would be driving to the museum instead of taking the train. Hiking to the museum from O.T.C would be not practical at this time as it would be a three hour one way hike. We will be leaving at 8a on Saturday from the Kane county clerk's office (540 S Randall Rd, St. Charles, IL 60174) and returning that evening around 6ish.
Please let me know if you can make it or not. We need drivers Go to the website and sign up.
