Merit badges for all scouts

Posted by swolfgram on Mar 17 2020 - 12:34pm
The next round of letters and updates will pertain to merit badges and fundraising opportunities. I am in contact with Three Fires council to find out if the flower sale is still going on or if it has been delayed/canceled. As soon as I learn more information I will get that out to all of you. Please remember to have the boys take a look at the emails, Facebook page and our website for all the information that I have been putting out.

Over the next weeks the two primary merit badges that I want everyone to seriously consider looking into and beginning are the First Aid merit badge and the Reading merit badge. The Reading merit badge is a straightforward badge that any scout from any year can get within a week or two. With everyone being home and unnecessary travel discouraged, reading a good book may be a great way to "escape" from this situation for a little while.

The First Aid badge is important during these times for self explanatory reasons. Learning more about what you should do in times of crisis and emergency are something that the Boy Scouts have been teaching their students for over a century.  Listed below are requirements for the Reading and First Aid merit badges. The troop is developing a presentation / demonstration for the First Aid merit badge that is still in the prototype phase.  After we are able to send it out to everyone working through a big Eagle required merit badge will be a little bit easier.

Thanks
Stevan

Message from Brock on his eagle project

Posted by swolfgram on Sep 18 2020 - 12:47pm
Hi everyone

Last night I received this message from Brock pertaining to his Eagle project.  If you can help out this weekend at all any little bet would help.  These are log-able service hours for rank advancement and the citizenship in the community merit badge.

Mid week activities update

This Monday we will be having a special in person meeting.  Nowadays as everyone knows it's very difficult to try to find something to do or a place to meet that we can actually do something.  This Monday we will be taking a hike around downtown Saint Charles.  At around 6:45 we will be meeting at Saint Mark's church to coordinate hikers.

Good evening everyone

I have two major updates for this weekend.  Saturday will be the final day of Brock's eagle project.  Sunday we have a day hike at Cantigny military park.

Mid week update - new plan bike hike

Posted by swolfgram on Oct 14 2020 - 7:38pm

Good evening everyone

Because we were not able to get enough participants for a camp-out to the sparta bike trail we will be holding a bike hike on the Great Western Trail this Saturday morning.   We will be meeting at the Campton Hills Community Center at 10a Saturday morning for a 10 mile bike hike.

Mid-week program update

Good evening everyone

This Saturday (December 26th) I will be trying to put together another service project over at Camp Kane.  Because almost everybody seems to be home for the holidays this may be a good chance to pick off a couple more service hours.  If you need service hours for a merit badge, a rank advancement or just want to get some dirt underneath your nails this may be our last best chance this year.  It will be the same as before where we start at 10a and end around 2p.   There is a sign up on the website if you're able to come.  I will need another adult to assist me with this.  If by Friday evening we can get at least 6 people signed up we are good to go.

Mid-week program update

I wanted to update everyone as to what was going on for this Saturday.  I talked to the point person from pack 154 about their camp-out at Blackwell Forest Preserve. I've been informed that this is not a weekend camp-out but actually a Saturday/Sunday overnight.  This means slight changes in what we were planning to do for the day.  The updated timeline for pack 154 is to be at the forest preserve starting at noon on Saturday till 9a on Sunday when they will break camp.
