Yerkes Observatory Trip, (Major update for this event) This past week we spoke to Bill Brownell, one of the board members at Yerkes Observatory. He informed us that because the Yerkes foundation was doing work on the observatory we would not be able to stay in the building at this time. We are looking for an alternative location to stay at. There are a number of places that we have left messages with and are waiting to hear back from. We will have more information this coming week

I want to send out a tremendous thank you to everyone that helped build the parade float on Friday night and participated in the electric light parade and wreath sales yesterday. The float team looked fantastic and the sales team outperformed expectations. Clocking in at almost an hour and ten minutes it was one of the longest parades I can remember. All in all it was a good way to end the Thanksgiving weekend.

All four areas are vital to the troop. Meetings of these four departments need not always meet on a Monday night and can bounce ideas via mail or phone.

Thank you to everyone that came out to the 2022 VFW fire vigil. I received a number of thank you's from the other troops and some of the vets in attendance yesterday night. The boys put up a good show and it paid off in the end. Something of note from this past weekend. We had one of the windiest outings I can remember. Just to the south of us we had a radar indicated ef-0 tornado on saturday afternoon. luckily none of it came up by us. we got some footage of the rain as it slammed into us, I just hope it turned out ok enough to show.

Monday special meeting - troop elections and city council meeting

This Monday the 7th will be our Fall Elections and city council meeting. At 6pm we will be holding the elections for troop positions at city hall in St.Charles. Every position is up for grabs. We will be reviewing the obligations of each position making sure all expectations are fulfilled. At 7pm we will be sitting in on the S.T.C city council meeting and leading their flag ceremony. The troop will also be receiving a proclamation on behalf of Karl Asplund the founder of troop one.

At our last patrol leaders council of the year we will be looking forward to 2022. We will be deciding what to do and when to do it. We will be looking at our full calendar of events and the months in which they will take place. We will be going back to the full 12 month calendar. That is to say with any luck you will be able to see almost all events in 2022 months in advance. I ask that all scouts please attend this meeting as your input will directly affect what we do in the coming year.

Immediately following the Patrol Leaders Council we will be holding our Winter Court of Honor. Please join the troop in honoring our fellow members that have earned awards over the past few months. This will also be the night where we welcome our newest members from Troop 14. After the ceremony please stick around for our gift exchange and snack table. If you are staying for the after party please bring a sweet, treat or snack to pass around.

For anyone participating in our gift exchange here are the ground rules
1. the gift should cost no more than 10.00 (excluding tax)
2. If you bring a gift you can choose one.
3. The gift can be anything you can think of. Something fun, serious, or strange. It just has to be appropriate.
4. and...No live animals please.
Troop One Recharter - Repost
The cost per registered scout is 132.00 and the cost per Leader is 69.00. The price for the year has gone up for both adults and youth. This is a rate hike on the national side and is not something that the troop is imposing. We are expecting another rate hike from National for the 2022 /23 season as well.
We all know that these are not the best of times especially where finances are concerned. If any of our members need help with the cost of recharter please reach out to us and let us know.

Needing a new Webmaster
This coming February our Webmaster Al DeFelice will be stepping down from the Webmaster position. I would like to ask anyone out there with any technical background if they would be willing to step up and become the new troop Webmaster. The Webmaster keeps the TroopMaster site and our website clean and up to date. You do NOT need to be a registered leader, just someone that is willing to help out.
Monday meeting 12 - 14 P.L.C and C.M
Tomorrow for our Monday night Patrol Leaders Council we will be talking about our 2021 calendar, getting the dates hopefully set, and going over some upcoming activities and events. During our Committee Meeting we will be going over the recharter, the budget and what we hope to do in the coming year to come back from our "year in limbo".
